036 : Mike & Britni Ross – Marriage meets business Head On but always in a respectful and healthy way

Mike and Britni Ross

Mike and Britni RossThis was a new type of interview for me: Remote location at a conference, sitting across from the interviewee(s) where they could see my reaction and I could see theirs and more than one person. Whew! Thank goodness I picked the right couple, they made it easy. Make no mistake about it, they each would be successful in this business, no doubt in my mind, however they would go about it in different ways. Michael would be all over the place, trying everything (successfully though for sure), whereas Britni would plan every step and methodically grow successfully. That is what makes them such a powerful force, they add-on to each others skills and fill-in any shortfalls (small as they would be). I loved the respect they had for each other, they do not always agree, but they have established boundaries and know how to compromise. This is the podcast that everyone currently working with their significant other or thinking about it will get the most from. This will help you stay together, you will realize you are not so different, just maybe the way you handle things are. All can be fixed when you work together!

Quotables:

“Sometimes we have to walk away from a disagreement, we keep the business discussion professional always, but a cooling off period helps”

“Before you blame everyone else, look inward to see what you could done wrong or what could you have done differently”

Gold-Nugget

Golden Nuggets:

Getting out of the house, going to a conference has helped balance the days that our business feels like a job. Opening up to others face-to-face has taken our relationships we developed on Facebook to the next level, I feel like I can reach out to them comfortably.

Always be aware of your emotional state when approaching your partner especially dealing with a potentially difficult issue!
